MHN CIRCLE FACILITATOR DEVELOPMENT

Learn to hold a circle people can trust

A practice-based learning cohort for people who want to facilitate healing-centered men's circles with greater clarity, humility, structure, and care.

Good intentions are not enough

A meaningful circle depends on more than a strong prompt or the willingness to be vulnerable. Facilitators shape the container through their presence, agreements, pacing, boundaries, cultural awareness, response to harm, and ability to recognize when a need exceeds the circle's scope.

MHN Facilitator Development helps participants practice those responsibilities in community.

Who this is for

  • Men's group and community-circle facilitators.

  • Educators, mentors, youth workers, coaches, and faith or community leaders.

  • Therapists and helping professionals who want a stronger community-circle practice.

  • People preparing to begin a circle and experienced facilitators willing to examine their habits.

Participation in training does not by itself qualify someone to provide therapy, trauma treatment, youth services, or any regulated professional service.

The learning container

1. In-person intensive

One full day of orientation, demonstration, circle practice, feedback, relationship building, and embodied learning.

2. Facilitator learning circles

Five live two-hour online sessions over approximately eight weeks. Participants experience a repeatable circle flow and practice listening, presence, agreements, prompts, pacing, boundaries, repair, and response to difficult moments.

3. Foundations of Circle Practice

Six to eight hours of self-paced videos, readings, reflection, and practical planning focused on philosophy, ethics, facilitation mindset, safety, logistics, and sustainability.

  • Designing a clear purpose and participant invitation.

  • Opening, guiding, and closing a circle.

  • Working with silence, emotion, conflict, disclosure, and rupture.

  • Holding culture, identity, power, and difference with humility.

  • Recognizing crisis, mandated-reporting, clinical, and referral boundaries.
